My Lanzarote Experience (April 2019)

Approximately one quarter of the surface of Lanzarote is covered by relatively young, almost unweathered, rugged lava. It is impressive that these areas are crossed by well-built roads though. Looking at these roads, I wondered how they were built and how they are built. How the surface looked like before they were built can be seen right next to the road. Lava monsters some meters high are not rare. However, this did not stop the engineers from digging straight through this tangle of rocks. Do they use oversized steam rollers for this? I don’t know and I don’t want to know so as not to destroy my imagination.
